Leash Walk Anyone?

"Oh no, please don't go!  Come play with me," begged the dapper Ringo to Glory, the sleek, sexy, tri-colored hound.

"Well, if you insist," smiled Glory to her new best friend, "but you better have a fun plan in mind for me.  You see, I am used to calling the shots and picking my playmates.  There is something about you though that I find intriguing and slightly mysterious.  You have for example, quite a skill in leashing in the pretty ladies.  No pun intended," she smirked back at him.  "Frankly, I'm impressed."

Little did Glory know but back at Ringo's bachelor pad, he already had the mood music piping into his condo,   chilled Palmyra water in a decanter and nayla bones for two smartly positioned bedside.  Ringo was no novice and clearly knew what he was doing!!

Keeping Cool in my Red Jacket

Newt, the newt??  Well, maybe!!  Who would have expected to see cool, wonderful me on the wooded trail loop at CFC?   I, along with other incredible creatures besides the resident cats and dogs, call CFC home.  Did you know we have a thriving community of blue birds and swallows?   We also have teems of deer who leap and bound through the forest enjoying the shady canopied environment.  How about opossum critters who arrive under cloak of darkness to stir up the dogs in the pens as they search for a yummy snack?   And what about the snakes ...skinny green ones, longer black ones and the occasional ones with shakers on their tail tip??   We have it all right here!  CFC is no ordinary animal sanctuary.  It's home to a lot more than just cats and dogs.  Come see for yourself!

All Dressed Up!

I'm all dressed up and looking for somewhere to go!  Do you see my new stylish bandana?  Well, it makes me feel proud, special and confident.   You see, I was recently "returned" to the shelter having been adopted out as a puppy and now,  I am trying to fit back into the sanctuary life and find my niche here.  Folks have been incredibly patient and just shy of awesome.  My name is Emma and some might call me Em.   I am tentative and a bit nervous but I think you'll agree when we meet,  I am super, super sweet and deserve a chance at a new home.   I'm here with Diamond (roommate) and the two of us....she a stunning a blonde and me a two tone head turner...are causing folks to stop and take a peek at our rocking pen.  Come on by and be a part of our"chick tour!"

Cool Cosmo

It's only April and already things are heating up here at the sanctuary.  The pool lady came by my backyard the other day and boy,  did she have a summer treat for me!  My own pool.  Like, WOW!!   As you can see,  there is room for others to join in the fun.   I promise not to splash you too much and yes,  I must enforce the no diving rule.  Come on by soon and see why everyone wants to hang with me and yes,  stay COOL with me!    Cosmo April 2012

It Takes Two!

Cissy and Wilma (all black) are seasoned kitties.  Some might say they are senior kitties.  In any event,  they know what they like and what they don't like.  Here you can see them testing the water.   Now, most would say the Palmyra water is really great.   No, terrific!!  These two discerning kitties still feel the need to personally test all water that comes into their room.   They need to make sure it meets their standards.   While we don't know for sure the final outcome, for those of us who share a home with a cat(s),  we know all too well, water in the cat bowl is NEVER as good as water in a human vessel.   And so it goes.  Some things never change!   Note:  Photos from Michelle Baty.

A Conversation Overheard

"So Sheeba, here's the deal,"  Bradley the red tick hound explains to newcomer, Sheeba the shepard mix.  "Page is the one you want to butter up.  She's the one who meets with potential families and matches up everyone into their new home.   Now my tactic was to act really shy when I first arrived. I knew THIS would get her attention.  As a result, Page kept coming over to my pen to say, hi.  I can't tell you how exciting it was to have a regular visitor every day. With time,  I started to warm up and even let her touch me and then walk me."

"Get out," squealed Sheeba with delight.  "You're not shy at all. I mean,  you are like my BEST play buddy and we just met! I can't believe you played that trick on Page."

"And so here's the best part. Page has now elevated me to "boyfriend" status,"  Bradley beams to Sheeba.  "I have also earned "best boyfriend" status with a volunteer, so life is really terrific for me.  Like you, I was pulled from a high kill shelter when my time was up.  Things are awesome here and you will soon figure out how to weasel your way into Page's good graces.  Thank goodness we have folks like Page and Mary (who started CFC) to look out for great pets like us.  Without them,  there would be no US."
